A decision on the fate of Energy Transfer LP’s Dakota Access pipeline is facing potential delay after government lawyers sought to postpone a court hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

The Army Corps of Engineers was set to appear in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to announce what it plans to do about the embattled oil pipeline, after a federal appeals court last month confirmed that a key easement was issued in violation of federal law.
