Bayou Bridge Pipeline Properly OK’d by Agency, Court Says (3)

Federal officials adequately studied the potential impacts of the Bayou Bridge pipeline in Louisiana, a federal court ruled Wednesday.

The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana sided with the federal government and pipeline operator Energy Transfer Partners LP, rejecting a challenge from environmental groups.

The Louisiana-based Atchafalaya Basinkeeper, local crawfishers, and other groups filed suit in 2018, accusing the Army Corps of Engineers of violating the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, and other laws by not adequately studying how pipeline construction and potential oil spills would affect sensitive wetlands in the region.
