Australia Reports Greenhouse Gas Emissions Rise of 0.7%

National emissions levels for the year to December 2018 were up 0.7% compared the previous year, with major contributions from increased liquefied natural gas exports, higher steel production and aluminum exports, and a rise in diesel consumption in the transport and mining sectors, government data shows.

Electricity sector emissions were down 3.5% year to year, Department of the Environment and Energy said in its quarterly update on the national greenhouse gas inventory.
