Australia Completes Review of Chemical Assessment Program

Australia’s industrial chemicals regulator completed a review of its existing chemicals assessment program, which includes a recommendation to consider international best practices as it studies the potential risks posed by thousands of substances.

The National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) released a report July 11 on a review of its Inventory Multitiered Assessment and Prioritization (IMAP) program, which assesses the risks that chemicals listed on the Australian Inventory of Chemical Substances (AICS) pose.
