August Geothermal Lease Sale to Be One of Interior’s Largest (1)

One of the largest geothermal lease sales in the Interior Department’s history is scheduled for Aug. 30 in Nevada.

Geothermal energy development rights to 232,517 acres on 79 parcels of federal land scattered across Nevada will go on the auction block, according to the Bureau of Land Management’s sale notice.

A major component of the the Biden administration’s climate and clean energy agenda, geothermal is part of the Interior Department’s plan to authorize an additional 10 gigawatts of renewable energy projects on public land by the end of 2023.
