Asbestos, Talc Imports, Manufacture Data Due Under EPA Rule (2)

Companies that make or import asbestos, including talc containing it, or products made with the mineral would have to report the volume and other information to the EPA under a regulation proposed Thursday.

The Environmental Protection Agency agreed to issue the one-time data-collection rule (RIN 2070-AK99) in a June settlement approved by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

The information collected under the proposed Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) regulation would include the amount of asbestos produced or imported in goods such as roofing tiles and equipment parts; employees exposed; and waste disposal methods ...
