A chemical manufacturer in bankruptcy proceedings tentatively agreed to pay the federal government nearly $17.8 million to address environmental damage at a Superfund site and at another New Jersey property in a proposed consent decree in federal bankruptcy court.
Arsynco Inc. is liable for cleanup costs as well as natural resource damages and assessment costs related to the company’s former property in Carlstadt, N.J., and at the Ventron/Velsicol Superfund site in Bergen County, according to the consent decree.
