Arconic Escapes New Jersey Town’s Claims for PCB Cleanup Costs

Arconic Inc. is off the hook for cleanup costs at an Edgewater, N.J., public park in a lawsuit the borough brought when it found PCB contamination in fill material, the District of New Jersey said in a Monday opinion.

The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey granted Arconic’s motion for summary judgment against the borough’s cost recovery claims under federal and state statutes because the company wasn’t directly connected to the arrangement that led to the disposal of contaminated fill from its former site at a public property northeast of Newark.
