Ameren Missouri, Feds Denied Rehearing on Pollution Permit Order

Ameren Missouri must get an air pollution permit for one of its coal-fired power plants in the state after the Eighth Circuit denied its petition for rehearing.

The company challenged the court’s ruling that modifications at its Rush Island Energy Center near Festus triggered permitting requirements under the Clean Air Act. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit said in August that it must obtain a Prevention of Significant Deterioration Permit and must install pollution controls.
