To resolve alleged Clean Air Act violations, ALTIVIA Petrochemicals LLC has agreed to pay a $1,112,500 civil penalty and implement a program to reduce air pollution in Haverhill, Ohio, according to the Department of Justice Thursday.
The company allegedly failed to meet monitor and leakage requirements, control hazardous air pollutants emissions, and demonstrate compliance with chemical plant regulations, said the agency.
The program requires the company to either replace valves with new “low emissions” valves or valve packaging materials that reduce leaks, the agency said.
