EPA Rule Bans All Consumer Uses of Dry Cleaning Solvent

All consumer uses of perchloroethylene and most commercial and industrial applications will be banned by a final rule the EPA issued Monday.

Companies and federal agencies that are allowed to keep making, importing, and using the solvent will have to comply with indoor air limits and other restrictions designed to protect workers, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s final regulation (RIN: 2070-AK84).
