A decision allowing Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC to operate its natural gas compressor station in Weymouth, Mass., while it awaits environmental review should be reversed to protect the public interest, according to a petition for rehearing filed in the First Circuit.
Reversal would allow for an investigation into the station’s emergency shutdown on Sept. 11, after the unplanned release of natural gas and volatile organic compounds, multiple individuals say in their petition filed Sept. 25 in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
