Alcoa Signs Clean Power Contract for Norwegian Aluminum Smelter

Alcoa Corp. signed a power purchase agreement with Eolus Vind AB to buy 330 megawatts of electricity from a wind farm under development in Norway.

The metalmaker will use the electricity from the Oyfjellet wind farm to power an aluminum smelter in Mosjoen, central Norway, according to an emailed statement.

The project is expected to be finished by 2021, the Swedish renewables developer said. Eolus and Alcoa have signed a 15-year power sales contract.
