Alaska Offshore Drilling Project Approval Rejected by 9th Cir.

The federal government needs to take a second look at the environmental impacts of a planned offshore drilling project along the coast of Alaska, the Ninth Circuit ruled in a setback for the project.

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management failed to quantify the emissions from foreign oil consumption, or explain why it is unable to do so, when it approved the Liberty project, according to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
