Alaska LNG Project Likely to Get US Support, Energy Chief Says

A long-sought liquefied natural gas export terminal in Alaska will likely get “a little bit” of financial support from the Energy Department, Secretary Chris Wright said Wednesday.

  • “The US government will probably support it a little bit from my department, with credit support or whatever,” Wright said in reference to financing for the roughly $40 billion project
    • Wright added main support would likely come from a mix of US companies and Asian companies
  • Wright estimated the project should be under construction within the next 12 months
