Alabama Carpet PFAS Contamination Suit Sent Back to State Court

Alabama counties won their bid to get their water contamination suit against “forever chemicals” producers and carpet manufacturers sent back to state court.

Shelby and Talladega counties sued 3M Co., Chemours Co., and carpet manufacturers for allegedly contaminating their water source with toxic chemicals, including per-and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS—long-lasting chemicals linked to harmful health effects. The counties said wastewater and stormwater has polluted the Conasauga River, which ultimately reaches the counties.
