Airgas, Air Liquide Settle Over Clean Air Act Violations

Airgas USA LLC and Air Liquide Large Industries U.S. LP will pay $257,000 after the EPA found violations of the Clean Air Act and its Chemical Accident Prevention Provisions, according to a consent decree approved by a Texas federal court Monday.

The Environmental Protection Agency inspected the companies’ gas processing facilities after an explosion at Airgas’ facility in La Porte, Texas, that killed one employee and injured another in 2013. An inspection of the facility showed the amount of hydrogen being processed exceeded the threshold.
