The US Air Force asked a federal court to dismiss environmental groups’ challenge to the expansion of military aircraft trainings over the Owyhee Canyonlands, saying that the plaintiffs haven’t shown they’ll be harmed.
The groups “fail to identify a single member of their organizations that will suffer an injury-in-fact that is traceable to the Air Force,” the service branch told the US District Court for the District of Oregon on Monday.
The canyonlands exist at the intersection of Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada—and contain critical habitats for the greater sage-grouse and bighorn sheep, among others.
