New chemicals needed for artificial intelligence technologies and data centers will be prioritized for EPA’s review under an initiative the agency announced Thursday.
The Trump administration’s executive order to speed federal permitting of data centers, combined with the EPA’s effort to provide those centers and AI systems with the new chemicals they need, show “we are taking every step possible to make America the artificial intelligence capital of the world,” Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin said in a statement.
