Agency Questions BASF, Brazilian Company About Repackaging of Expired Pesticide

RIO DE JANEIRO—The enforcement arm of Brazil’s Health Ministry (Anvisa) has given German chemical company BASF and pesticide packaging company Servatis Agro and Fine Chemicals until Aug. 27 to respond to its investigation into alleged illegal repackaging and relabeling of a pesticide whose validity date had long expired, an Anvisa official told BNA.

The companies could be fined up to 1.5 million reais ($937,150) each, according to Leticia Rodrigues, an Anvisa toxicology manager.
