After Biggest-Ever U.S. Gas Leak, Sempra Seeks to Restart Field

Sempra Energy is asking California regulators for permission to pump natural gas back into the biggest gas storage field in the state, saying it has finished testing after a leak that took four months to plug.

Sempra said in a Nov. 1 filing that it had submitted a report on all 114 wells at the Aliso Canyon gas storage site in Southern California, addressing requirements imposed by the state before restart. The California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources and the California Public Utilities Commission will have to confirm Sempra has met all conditions before allowing it to resume ...
