A coalition of 12 attorneys general expressed support for a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rule requiring long-term transmission planning, as the measure faces a legal challenge from environmental groups.
“The Court should uphold the Rule, which will promote the availability of reliable, affordable energy necessary to allow economies to flourish, provide lifesaving services, and help communities thrive,” said the amicus brief filed Wednesday with the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
The FERC order required direct transmission providers to adopt reforms that improve regional electric transmission planning and cost allocation long-term.
