3M Says It Will Spend $99 Million to Clean Up Site in Alabama

3M Co. has agreed to pay $99 million to support environmental initiatives in Decatur, Ala., where it has a facility that allegedly disposed of chemicals that contaminated groundwater, sediments, private water supplies, and more in the region, the company said.

The settlements are part of agreements with several different parties, including local municipalities and environmental preservation groups, the company said. 3M said it would pay the $99 million as part of an agreement with Decatur, as well as Morgan County, Ala.
