3M, Air Force Hit With Firefighting Foam Lawsuit by Tribe (1)

3M, the federal government, and five other companies were hit with claims by the Kalispel tribe over drinking water contamination from firefighting foam used at the Fairchild Air Force Base in eastern Washington.

The complaint includes claims against the companies for the design, manufacture, and sale of aqueous film forming foam, and against the U.S. Air Force for its use and disposal of the product.

The foam contained per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) that migrated offsite to the municipal water supply, which the tribe purchases for its own use, the complaint alleges.
