$19.5 Million Cleanup Plan Targets New Jersey Site’s Groundwater

Environmental regulators completed a $19.5 million cleanup plan for a former industrial site in the borough of Fair Lawn, N.J., the Environmental Protection Agency announced Oct. 5.

The cleanup plan for the Fair Lawn Well Field Superfund site in Bergen County will include removal of volatile organic compounds from soil and groundwater and expansion of the system that extracts and treats contaminated groundwater at the site.

The treatment system will also address 1,4-dioxane contamination at the site. The chemical is a likely human carcinogen, according to the EPA.
