$1 Billion Cleanup of Fox River and Green Bay Nears Completion

Georgia Pacific, NCR Corp., Wisconsin, and the EPA have nearly wrapped up the construction phase of a $1 billion, 17-year-long cleanup of the Fox River and Green Bay, officials said Tuesday.

The cleanup of the river, one of the most costly in the country, now enters a long-term monitoring phase to ensure the chosen remedy effectively protects the public and the environment from harmful contaminants. The contaminated site includes 39 miles of Wisconsin’s Lower Fox River and Green Bay.
