Mountain Valley Pipeline FERC Review Analyzed by Appeals Panel

A panel of D.C. Circuit judges questioned the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s decision not to do further environmental review for the Mountain Valley Pipeline during oral arguments Thursday.

Environmental groups including the Sierra Club and Appalachian Voices sought the court’s review after FERC granted the pipeline’s request to resume work on parts of the project where it has valid permits. The commission also granted a two-year extension to complete the project, despite the fact that the pipeline is no longer needed, the groups told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
