Dakota Access Pipeline’s Environmental Review Delayed to 2025

The US Army Corps of Engineers will delay the release of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Dakota Access Pipeline to next year, keeping the operation of one of the country’s largest oil pipelines uncertain.

  • The EIS, initially expected for 2024, is for a section of pipeline that runs under North Dakota’s Lake Oahe, upstream of the northern boundary of the Standing Rock Reservation; the line transports crude from North Dakota’s Bakken oil fields to a terminal in Patoka, Illinois
