Uber Reaches Settlement With New York Drivers

Uber has agreed to pay $195,000 to seven New York City drivers who sued the company over alleged employment violations.

The proposed settlement has to be approved by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The drivers, who opted out of the arbitration provision in Uber’s technology services agreement, claimed that the company and its subsidiaries misclassified them as independent contractors. They sued for unpaid minimum wages, overtime, recovery of equipment costs, breach of contract, and other claims.
