NBCUniversal Secures Arbitration of Discrimination Dispute

NBCUniversal Media can force an employment discrimination case into arbitration, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said Jan. 10 in an unpublished ruling.

Roger Pickett, a former video technician for the media conglomerate, claims the company denied him accommodations for his medical conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome and multiple bulging disks.

A supervisor allegedly created a hostile work environment because of Pickett’s age and disability, saying things like “I don’t believe that you had any pain,” and “old people are untrainable.”

Pickett alleges he was eventually fired because of his age and disability.
