Medtronic Can’t Escape Male Employee’s Sex Discrimination Suit

A lawsuit claiming that Medtronic discriminated against a male employee on the basis of gender, then retaliated against him when he complained, will be allowed to proceed, a federal court ruled June 12.

Joshua Boyd sold surgical equipment for the company. Boyd claims he was subjected to gender discrimination by his supervisors, and was fired after he filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The company said Boyd was fired for disobeying his supervisor’s instruction not to contact one of Medtronic’s clients. Boyd claims this was a pretext.
