Google’s Too-Long Court Filing Dooms Bid for Quick Bias Suit Win

Alphabet Inc.'s Google LLC is headed for trial on a former employee’s disability discrimination claims after a judge in Tennessee said the company’s motion seeking a favorable ruling on the case before trial would take too much work to untangle.

The technology company’s summary judgment motion includes “64 purportedly material and undisputed facts,” several of which were “in actuality entirely immaterial,” the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee said Wednesday. Judge Eli Richardson said the motion didn’t comply with local rules on concision, turning to three separate dictionary definitions of “concise” to make his point.
