The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced two senior appointments, including Heather Olowski from the US Department of State as chief of its Office of Legal Counsel.
Olowski, who was most recently director of the State Department’s Office of Civil Rights, will provide advice to EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas and help develop policy guidance, according to the commission’s Wednesday statement.
Reporting to Lucas, her role includes providing technical assistance to employers and employees, and coordinating with other agencies and stakeholders regarding the statutes and regulations enforced by the EEOC. The office coordinates the commission’s defense when it’s faced with litigation.
