The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit against Innovative Services NW in Washington state over allegations of disability discrimination, the agency said Friday.
The disability services nonprofit allegedly violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by firing a custodian in its Janitorial Services Program after refusing to make accommodations for her degenerative hip impairment, according to the EEOC.
Carly Romero had attempted to return to work with a doctor’s release that cleared her for resuming janitorial activities except for wearing a backpack vacuum, the EEOC said.
