Bliss Haven Defeats Ex-Worker’s Disability Bias Lawsuit, for Now

Bliss Haven Inc. scored the dismissal, at least for now, of a former worker’s lawsuit alleging the care provider discriminated against her due to her disability, a federal court in Illinois ruled.

Bliss Haven hired Jennifer Brouwer as a house manager. She allegedly told the company she could have potential blackouts at any time because of a brain tumor.

After Brouwer experienced a seizure, her doctor advised her to take two weeks off work until she was diagnosed by a neurosurgeon, she says. But she was allegedly fired when she returned to work even though she provided a doctor’s note. ...
