Attorney in Maryland Sentenced to Prison For Bribing Official to Get Green Cards, EADs

A Maryland immigration attorney has been sentenced to two years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to bribing a public official to get green cards and employment authorization documents for his clients, the U.S. attorney’s office announced July 30 (United States v. Dewansentencing).

Judge William D. Quarles of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland Aug. 6 also ordered Kiran Dewan, an attorney and accountant with the Law Offices of Dewan & Associates in Windsor Mill, Md., to forfeit $50,000. He issued the final judgment the same day.
