A Walmart Inc. employee rendered comatose after a car accident accused the company of using lax cybersecurity measures that allowed her estranged mother to drain benefits held on a debit card, according to a complaint filed in Alabama federal court.

The proposed class action, filed Sept. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, seeks to hold the retail giant liable under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act for how it managed an employee debit card program.
