Walmart Gets Win in Workers’ Bid for 147,000-Person COBRA Class

A lawsuit accusing Walmart Inc. of sending deficient health coverage notices hit a major setback Wednesday when a federal magistrate judge in Florida said a lack of injury should prevent class status for a group of 147,000 workers.

Former store manager Jamie Bryant didn’t experience a lapse in health coverage or incur any unpaid medical expenses after leaving her job because she enrolled in coverage through her domestic partner, Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida said.
