Walgreens Inks $100 Million Class Deal in Generic Drug Price Row

Walgreen Co. will pay $100 million and terminate its generic drug discount program to resolve a seven-year-old class action by customers who say the pharmacy chain overcharges for generic drugs when they’re purchased using insurance.

The proposed deal would cover million of people and entities that paid for prescription drugs from Walgreens using insurance coverage since January 2007, according to a settlement motion filed Nov. 1 in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
