University of Rochester Sued Over Health Plan Premium Levels

The University of Rochester was sued Tuesday by current and former employees who say their health plan is mismanaged because it offers a coverage option that charges higher fees without providing additional benefits.

The health plan’s YOUR PPO option, which costs more money but carries lower deductibles, is “financially dominated” by the plan’s cheaper, high-deductible option, because it offers no financial benefits in exchange for the higher fees, the workers said in a proposed class complaint.
