UnitedHealthcare Defends Liposuction Deal After Judge’s Queries

UnitedHealthcare Insurance Co. and a class of patients who sued the insurer over its liposuction coverage policy defended their proposed class settlement after a federal judge in California peppered them with questions about whether the deal was adequate.

Lipedema patients who never underwent liposuction surgery after having their claims denied by United can resubmit their claims if they’re still covered by a United plan, the parties said Monday.
