UnitedHealth Boosts Liposuction Deal After Judge Nixed First Try

UnitedHealthcare Insurance Co. beefed up its proposed settlement with a class of patients seeking coverage for specialized liposuction in an attempt to win approval from the California federal judge who previously refused to sign off on the deal.

The revised deal requires United to cover lipedema surgery for all class members, regardless of whether they meet the relevant medical necessity and diagnostic criteria, with no monetary cap on the amount of reimbursement.
