United Surgical Partners’ $1.5 Million 401(k) Deal Moves Forward

July 30, 2025, 4:00 PM UTC

United Surgical Partners International Inc.'s $1.475 million class settlement with workers challenging their 401(k) plan fee levels has received an initial OK from a federal judge in Dallas.

The deal is expected to provide more than 16,600 participants in the United Surgical plan with about 28% of their best-case estimated damages. It resolves allegations that United Surgical, an ambulatory surgery network owned by Tenet Healthcare, mismanaged its 401(k) plan by offering overly expensive investment options and paying excessive administrative fees.
