United Healthcare Cleared for $6.75 Million Cancer Coverage Deal

United Healthcare Insurance Co. finalized a class settlement requiring it to pay up to $6.75 million to cancer patients seeking coverage for a treatment they describe as more effective than traditional radiation.

The deal allows between 90 and 240 class members who paid out-of-pocket for proton beam radiation therapy to file claims and receive reimbursement of up to $75,000 each, with reimbursements subject to an overall cap of $6.75 million.
