United Airlines Settles Class Suit Over Military Pilot Pensions

United Airlines Inc. will pay $275,000 to resolve a class action by pilots who say they were denied full pension credit for time they spent on leave while serving in the military, the parties told a federal judge in Chicago.

The settlement comes six months after Judge Thomas M. Durkin of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois rejected the pilots’ claims that United didn’t give them appropriate sick leave and vacation day accruals for the time they spent on military leave.
