TTEC Holdings Sued Over Tobacco Penalty in Employee Health Plan

Colorado-based customer service company TTEC Holdings Inc. was hit with a proposed class action saying it wrongly charges workers who smoke higher rates for health insurance without giving them a valid option for having the penalty waived.

TTEC employees who smoke are charged an extra $1,200 per year to remain on the company’s health plan, and this amount is expected to increase to $1,500 in 2025, a TTEC customer service specialist said in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Colorado.
