Trump Proposes Funding to Support Association Health Plans

President Donald Trump wants to increase Labor Department funding to support association health plans, the White House said in its fiscal year 2019 budget proposal Feb. 12.

The Trump administration proposed an increase in funding for the Employee Benefits Security Administration, which issued proposed regulations for an expansion of association health plans in January. The proposed rule would open up association health plans to allow small employers and sole proprietors to band together and form a plan.

Trump directed the Labor Department to issue the regulations in an October 2017 executive order.
