Robert J. Neis has been appointed acting deputy benefits tax counsel at the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy.
Neis first joined Treasury in June as associate benefits tax counsel, a Treasury spokesman told BNA Sept. 18. Before taking the position at Treasury, Neis had been a partner at Sutherland law firm. He is a graduate of Cornell Law School and Middlebury College.
The former deputy benefits tax counsel, Helen Morrison, left Treasury to join Ernst & Young as a principal in the compensation and benefits practice of the firm’s national tax department.
