ThedaCare Inc. Retirement Plan Fee Lawsuit Settles for $980,000

Wisconsin health system ThedaCare Inc. negotiated a $980,000 class settlement with workers who challenged the fees associated with its retirement plan.

The proposed deal would benefit about 18,820 people covered by ThedaCare’s plan since August 2014. It represents about 17% of the workers’ total estimated losses, according to a settlement motion filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

The deal is subject to approval from Judge William C. Griesbach, whose Wisconsin courtroom has been a hotbed of litigation over 401(k) plan fees in recent years. The cases he oversees have experienced twists and ...
