Sprint Retirees Finalize $3.5 Million Pension Math Settlement

Sprint Communications LLC retirees received final approval for a $3.5 million class settlement resolving a challenge to how the T-Mobile unit calculates certain married workers’ pensions.

The agreement, which represents about 36% of the retirees’ estimated damages, will boost the monthly payments of 1,009 Sprint retirees who chose pensions that include post-death payments for their surviving spouses. Judge Daniel D. Crabtree of the US District Court for the District of Kansas issued the final approval order Wednesday.
